Thinking of a festival this year?

Thinking of attending a festival this year? It can always be daunting, if it is your first time with kids! However festivals are those times, where you ditch your phone, you have no signal and towards the end no battery anyway! You create a timeless weekend, where you have no idea what time or day is it as you are soaked up in the atmosphere. Create so many memories to last a lifetime and experience an array of sights. It is just magical.

We would always recommend just going for it and book that family festival, (booking and reading columnist @poshlemons blogs for inspiration - https://www.somethingnewmag.co.uk/post/camp-bestival-round-2) However, If you don't feel confident with just booking and going for it then we have some helpful tips/suggestions on building those baby steps...

Book for the day; most festivals you can go for a day, or for all the days, or camp!

So why not start by booking for a day, then perhaps this would be all you need to wish you were there for the whole duration. It would give you an insight into what it is like.

Start small; pick smaller festivals to get the vibe and build upwards. Trial it, if you like it and want to go again then book bigger next time.

Festival type; What type of festival are you interested in? There are so many types! Read reviews and see what other parents feel.

Stay local; there are so many local festivals in Dorset, if you are anxious about your first experience then book a local festival...

This year in Dorset there is a brand new festival called Labyrinth, located in Wimborne. This would be a good introduction to a festival as it a smaller, it is local, it focus's on the arts and is family orientated. http://oldschoolplayerstheatre.co.uk/labyrinthartsfestival/

Go on, book that festival this year,
