I love starting new traditions with my now 10 month old! And autumn is my favourite season so we couldn’t pass on going pumpkin picking with him!
We chose to go to Sopley Farm to get our pumpkins. Me and James went a few years back to get some and we also went fruit picking there, we just thought it was a cute place to go.
I was that mum that insisted on matching jumpers. They were so adorable and I just know that Forrest will refuse to wear the same as me before long so it had to be done! We got them from Asda George. His said # new to the patch and mine said # no 1 pumpkin picker. So once we were all outfitted up, we got in the car and headed over to the pumpkin patch!
Going on a Thursday meant it was so quiet. When we got there Forrest had just woken up from a nap, it couldn’t have been better timing, and so we got our wellies on, went and got a pull along cart and off we strolled to get our pumpkins!
Forrest was loving life in the cart. He was so happy sat in there going over the bumps making the ‘ahhh’ noise to see how it changed when he was on a bumpy path. It was too cute! Top tip though is definitely bring an old towel or blanket or even a carrier bag that you can wash/throw away after as the carts are muddy and if you want some pics of them sat on the fooor it just becomes a mud bath.
There were some really cute little picture opportunities and even piles of pumpkins that we could sit him on and have his picture. However in true baby fashion he did not like touching or sitting on the pumpkins and raised his feet everytime we tried to get him to sit on it 🙈😂
We managed to get a pumpkin in the cart with him which he obviously immediately found the tiniest bit of mud on, smearing it everywhere. After he has finished covering himself in the muddiness of the pumpkin patch fields, we decided to head back, took some pic opportunities, pay for our pumpkins (and get some cute mini ones from the shop) and stop by the bakery.
Surprisingly he only managed to get his socks off after returning the cart and taking some pics with a huge stack of pumpkins and hay bales. I feel like this was a huge mum win, we are constantly fighting the battle of losing the socks or persuading him to keep them on his feet.
It’s such a lovely little bakery. You can see them making everything so you know it’s all fresh. They had the best Halloween themed cookies and loads of choices of cakes and savory bits. We got some cookies, coffee and hot chocolate and sat outside, with loads more pumpkins, on a picnic bench to eat the yummy goodies.
I am so excited to make this a new yearly tradition and take him next year. It’s crazy to think this year he was able to sit in the cart and be pulled along to the pumpkins but next year he’ll be running ahead, jumping in all the puddles and picking up his own pumpkins!
I really enjoyed taking Forrest to the pumpkin patch and he loved it too!
Enjoy pumpkin season 🎃
Love Letitia and Forrest
