Eurostar & travelling with kids TOP TIPS

Updated: Aug 2

I hadn’t done any research before our trip (my thinking was “I’ve done the plane with them, I’ll be fine”) so all of these I learnt during the experience:

CHOOSE YOUR SEATS- when checking in online before travelling, make sure you view your seats, there is an option to select other seats (not sure if I missed this when booking but our seats were all over, so I managed to reselect).

STROLLER – (even if your kiddo has the leg power) this is a MUST, at some point those little legs will get tired, especially on the way back after all those steps at Disney and if there are delays. I have to admit the way there was a breeze without a stroller, the girls were on form, walked, listened to every instruction, but  it was a struggle on our return journey, unloading the suitcases whilst everyone was trying to vacate the train and your little is clung to you like a monkey was hard, then to pull a suitcase, whilst holding a 3 year old and motivate a tired 6 year old to walk was a challenge but we made it so that’s an achievement.

ACTIVITY PACKS- keep those little hands busy, nothing like being able to sit back and relax, most of the time this doesn’t happen when with kids, but I found packing their bags with some new activity packs and sensory toys helped, they loved digging into their bags and discovering each thing. I packed little Disney colouring pads and princess letter kits I found in Primark which came with letters from each Princess, fold & send envelopes, stickers, perfect for some arty faffing and not costly at all so fine to pop in recycling once done with.

SNACKS SNACKS SNACKS – I don’t think this one needs explaining 😝 the café onboard has things but mamas we know our kids and what would make their tummies happy, so if you can - pack it all and extras.

STRETCH – take a stretch break during the journey, head to the Eurostar Café onboard for some refreshments or even just a wander where there is lots of space to stand around.

TISSUES/WIPES– if you go to the loo always take a pack of tissues or wipes with you so you’re not surprised by an empty roll when you’re in there and have your mini mid flow.

TABLETS- gotta love youtube kids … we get the screens out as last resort to keep them still/quiet if things get out of hand (I am sooooo not one to say I don’t do phones/tablets because they have helped me out big time and come on this generation is all about technology anyway).

WEAR TRAINERS- (the whole family) important to be wearing comfy shoes plus they’re the bulkier of the footwear keeping your baggage lighter with the sandals being in them if any other footwear is needed for your trip.
