FUNdraiser: Bumps, Beers, and Babies - A Unique Pre & Postnatal Event

Here at Something New Magazine, we love community!

Being a business owner in this day and age is hard enough. It takes some pretty awesome humans to run businesses, their households, their families and in addition to this collaborate collectively to bring a community together and raise a phenomenal amount of money for a charity that is imperative in the local community.

This event is going to be even BIGGER this year and you don't want to miss out.....

On the 16th of September 2023, Melissa, the founder of The Bubba Hub, a baby equipment rental company, joined forces with Laura,  'baby mama no drama,' a birth preparation coach. Together, they orchestrated a pre and postnatal fundraising event with a difference. This event wasn't your typical gathering—it was a vibrant amalgamation of local businesses dedicated to supporting and showcasing services for new and expectant parents.

With an emphasis on fun and community engagement, the event was a delightful blend of games,  tasters, engaging competitions, and entertainment. One of the standout attractions was the soft play area provided by Crawl and Climb, where tiny tots could explore and play to their hearts' content.

Adding a touch of enchantment to the occasion, The Enchanted Nanny conducted a captivating story and song session, casting a spell of wonderment over the young attendees. However, the true pièce de résistance was the simulation of contractions experienced by enthusiastic dads, giving them a glimpse into the intensity of childbirth—a memorable experience that drew laughter and empathy alike.

But that wasn't all; the culinary delights were aplenty. From mouthwatering pizzas and delectable ice creams to scrumptious bakes that tempted the taste buds, the array of savory and sweet treats delighted guests. The event also catered to those seeking a more spirited refreshment, with a selection of beers, prosecco, and an immensely popular sweet cart courtesy of Something New Mag.

The event wasn't solely about revelry; it was a platform for local pre and postnatal businesses to shine, showcasing their offerings and how they could assist and support new and expectant parents on their journey. The collaborative spirit fostered a sense of community, ensuring that attendees left not only with laughter in their hearts but also valuable insights and connections for their parenthood voyage.

Melissa, Laura, and the participating businesses succeeded in creating an event that raised £646.50 for Poole Neonatal Unit. Their unique approach transformed a fundraising occasion into an unforgettable experience, leaving an indelible mark on the hearts of all who attended—a testament to the power of unity and celebration within the parenting community.

BCP Bumps and Babies are now planning events for 2024, the first being a pregnancy pop up in Poole in April. If you run a pre or postnatal business and would like to be involved in the next event head over to @BCPbumpsandbabies (Insta) or email -BCPbumpsandbabies@outlook.com
